How Technology Is Helping To Keep Millions Of People Healthy Each Year

Medical Technology
Innovative technology continues to improve medical care and help us live longer, healthier lives.  Here are a few examples of advances in medicine that are having the biggest impact.

Technology continues to advance with stunning speed and power, certainly revolutionizing a host of industries in order to push towards more a productive, efficient, and better world. This is perhaps most evident in the health care industry, where medical advances have helped keep millions of people healthy each year. Following are a few of those technologies that have proven to be most innovative.

1. Electronic Aspirin

Millions of people suffer from crippling headaches and migraines that harshly affect their everyday lives, and unfortunately, pills have often proven to be inadequate and sometimes harmfully addictive. Electronic aspirin strives to solve their ills by acting as an implant that stimulates the nerve cluster that is attributed to migraines and headaches.

2. Google Glass

Google Glass is more than just wear for well-off hipsters to take photos with. It is being used in real surgeries in order to improve the way healthcare providers interact with patients and their families. This is expected to be used more frequently in years to come.

3. 3D Printers

This amazing technology has been used to make everything from guns to architectural models, but the biggest impact of 3D printing may be in the medical field where it can be applied to print important materials like skin, heart tissue and embryonic stem cells. Once these medical devices are created, Nelson Laboratories can test them to ensure they are biocomaptible so that they can then be used in a patient.

4. Digestible Sensors

These are pretty straightforward, acting as digestibles which can then transmit information from inside the patient straight to medical professionals in order to specifically customize their care for the individual.

5. Optogenetics

Optogenetics is an unbelievable new technology that seems straight out of science fiction, its function being the control of brain activity through the use of light. In the future, this will allow a more complete understanding of how people create emotions, thoughts and behaviors.

6. Tissue Testing

With tissue testing, medical professionals are able to learn much more about certain cancers and other health problems. The accuracy of tissue testing is important to understand the results and how doctors can better treat patients.

The cost of medical care has tended to skyrocket over time, grossly outpacing inflation. Thus, it is more crucial than ever to find ways to deliver care that is cheaper, more efficient, faster and more responsive to individual patients. These new technologies and many more are working to fulfill those important goals and lead to a better and more healthy population.
