Modern Medical Procedures That Help Our Daily Life

 Medicine
Here are some more examples of medical technologies that are improving our lives.

Modern medical science is one of the great wonders of the past 100 years. It has allowed us to live longer and healthier than people who lived a century ago could have ever dreamed of. It seems like there is a new medical breakthrough in the news every day, with seemingly no limit to the miracles that can be accomplished. Here are just a few of the many medical procedures that help people to live their daily lives.

LASIK

For centuries, people were forced to wear eyeglasses, and later contact lenses, if they had a vision problem. The invention of LASIK laser eye correction surgery can easily be called one of the most significant surgical breakthroughs in history. With this procedure that literally only takes a few minutes to perform, a person who can barely see can have his or her vision corrected to the point that it is 20/20. If the person's vision is not perfect after the procedure, it is very close to it.

Laser Toe Fungus Removal

Toe fungus can be an embarrassing problem that causes people to keep their feet covered at the pool, the beach or other places where people usually expose their toes. Toe fungus is very difficult to get rid of. Many people have cases that last for more than a decade. This is because the fungus lives under the nail, where ointments can't penetrate. Internal medicines have been known to cause liver failure in some cases. However, laser treatment has been developed that is showing great results. A special laser is able to penetrate the nail and, over the course of multiple sessions, will slowly kill the fungus.

Laser Treatments for Varicose Veins

Varicose veins used to be a condition that forced people to cover their bodies or stay indoors. They are twisted or enlarged veins that are most often found on the legs. Nowadays, people with varicose veins no longer need to live the life of a shut-in. There is now a minimally invasive endovenous laser treatment (ELT) available in Kenai that has proven effective in reducing or completely eliminating the appearance of varicose veins.

Hair Restoration

Up until recently, men suffering from male pattern baldness only had the options of living with it, or wearing a toupee. Hair restoration is performed by taking healthy hair follicles from other parts of the body and implanting them into the bald regions of the head. British soccer star Wayne Rooney was going bald at age 26. He got a hair restoration procedure and has stated how happy he is with the results.

These are just a few examples that we can see as a great advocates for modernization of medicine and medical procedures. The more we advance, the more we achieve.
