We are in the middle of the information age, the digital revolution and the era of new media. In this era of vast possibilities, every other day it seems there is a new gadget or application that will make our life that much easier. These gadgets are becoming much more commonplace and affordable, which, as with the smartphone, is dispersing them from the ranks of high society down to the common man. Consider the following examples of such technological innovations.
1. VR Gaming
While there are many applications for virtual reality (VR) technologies, the Oculus Rift is the latest headway into the field. The primary use of the Oculus Rift is to provide the user a first person experience into the world of video games. While still in development, the technology is close to release and is seen as primed to revolutionize the industry.| Related articles |
2. Drones
While these machines have gained military notoriety, today they may also be used for personal recreation. Companies such as DJI have begun manufacturing recreational drones. These drones may be used for a perspective of the world that was previously only possible with the use of a helicopter. Drones from places like Drones ETC. can be used to film vast landscapes and photos from high above and will make vacation memories that much richer.3. Smartwatches
When the smartphone became popularized, a whole new world opened up for communications. Now, the power of these supercomputers has become integrated into even smaller and more portable devices, with some even being wearable. Smartwatches present a new revolutionary form of communication, with the ability to make phone calls and even take pictures. Expect to see smartwatches as the new replacement to smartphones in the near future.4. Autonomous cars
This is a development popularized by Google when they surprised California residents by allowing their driverless car to navigate streets. Laws have even been passed in the states of California, Michigan, Nevada, and Florida to allow the public testing of driverless cars. These cars may eventually serve as the replacement of the stereotypical chauffeur. This application may affect not only the rich, but the entire population. These four innovations are just small doses of the latest developments that are occurring all around the world. As time goes on, technology is expanding with limitless possibilities. Robots, once a thing of Sci Fi films in the past, are now a real innovation that is improving every day. The only limit that has stopped mankind in this new era of technological development is his own imagination.
