Military Tech
The US military may be even more unbeatable by 2018 if engineers from multiple teams complete their tasks. President Obama recently announced that the Pentagon is engaged in building an actual Iron Man suit. |
Recently after a meeting with his top engineers and Pentagon representatives, US President Obama publicly said: "Basically, I'm here to announce that we're building Iron Man [...] Not really. Maybe. It's classified." (see video above).
As some have commented, the suit may be closer to a Master Chief suit from Halothan to Tony Stark's famous armor.
The Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit (or TALOS) would be designed to give soldiers an advantage in combat with “superhuman strength” and mobility.
“There is no one industry that can build it,” U.S. Special Operations Command Senior Enlisted Advisor Command Sgt. Maj. Chris Faris told a panel discussion, reported Defense Media Network last year.
The Pentagon is working with 56 corporations, 16 government agencies, 13 universities and 10 national laboratories to make the TALOS exoskeleton real.

Pentagon officials say the goal is to put the final high-tech solution into full operation by August 2018. "We are already seeing astounding results," Navy Admiral William H McRaven said. "We are trying to solve what appears to be a very narrow tactical niche, but I am convinced it will have greater applications across the enterprise."
"If we do TALOS right it will be a huge comparative advantage over our enemies and give the warriors the protection they need in a very demanding environment."
