Technology is continuing to move forward at a very fast pace. Even over the past few years, it's amazing how quickly technology has advanced. It can be a bit overwhelming trying to keep up with all the latest and greatest in technology. However, here are the top five technology innovations that are sure to make a huge impact in the coming years.

NFC Transactions

NFC is starting to change the way we pay for things. NFC stands for "near-field communication." In simple terms, NFC allows smartphones to establish radio communication with another device that has an NFC chip. This can be used for any numbers of things. For one, it allows people to enter their credit card information onto their smartphone and do transaction with their phone. NFC also allows people to transfer information from one smartphone to another.

Everyone knows those self-destructing phones in the old spy movies. Messages are actually beginning to go this route, except without the dramatic effects. The biggest issue people have with social media is privacy. However, Snapchat sought to remedy this by forcing a time limit between all messages sent between its users. After this time limit, the message would "self destruct" and the message would no longer be able to be viewed. Hopefully, this will see the gradual end of the days in which everyone has to worry about their internet activities and conversations being permanent.

3D Printing

3D printing is about as close to science fiction movies as we have gotten so far. 3D printing allows people to create three dimensional objects from a digital schematic. It can be used to craft anything from clothing, jewelry, to even firearms. 3D printing is a huge step forward in how we create things, and it's sure to make an even bigger impact over the next few years.

While mostly still a concept, it's very likely that we're going to see "Phoneblocks" relatively soon. What is a phoneblock? Essentially, a phoneblock is a mobile device that will allow the user to use modular components in order to change the appearance and function of the phone.
