Ray Kurzweil
| At Singularity University recently, Ray Kurzweil gave an informal and laid back talk compared to his regular speeches. The discussion ranges from entrepreneurship to the feasibility of science fiction-like technologies. |
We often feature videos of Ray Kurzweil here at 33rd Square. This one is a nice change in that it is more informal and laid back compared to Kurzweil's regular speeches.
After a brief talk, Kurzweil takes questions from the Class of 2013 at Singularity University. The topics range from entrepreneurship to Google, to the artificial intelligence. The conversation is fun, as the group ventures into looking at the feasibility of science fiction-like technologies like teleportation and recreating individual's consciousness from history.

He continues, "I mean it's a question of timing. Like being able to fully download a brain - that's actually lot harder hat creating an intelligent brain in the first place. I think we will be able to rate AI at human-levels by 2029. That would ultimately be a super-intelligence because that could then operate on 'Google Scale' - a computer scale."
He also talks about his current work at Google. Kurzweil says they are trying to build a system that is better than IBM's Watson. The system will be applied to 'Google Scale' which is mastering 10 billion web pages and 10 billion book pages.
