 Hugo de Garis
Hugo de Garis speaks about the future of AI and augmenting humans - the Writing on the Wall, Increasing Awareness, Gender, Education, Relationships, Opinion Polls, AI, AGI, Singularity, Accelerating Change, Intelligence Explosion,  and Species Dominance.
Dr. Hugo de Garis recently was featured at 33rd Square discussing The Singularity and what will happen when the majority of the population have a thorough understanding of how the mind works.

In the video below, Adam A. Ford of the Lifeboat Foundation continues his interview with de Garis.  The issue of gender is explored in depth, including how the next evolution of humanity and/or human cyborg developments will lead to very complicated gender arrangements, let alone species dominance.

de Garis encourages a need to educate the general population about the Singularity and the rise of future computers and greater-than-human intelligences, to make the debate more meaningful.  "It is important to rattle people's cages."  Making these ideas mainstream will take around three years he suggests.  The issue will become as talked-about as global warming and poverty he predicts.

Part of the responsibility of those in the artificial intelligence community is to make these concepts  more mainstream, and involve other intellectual fields, such as the social sciences in the discussion.  Moreover, involving the female perspective is essential.

Pointing to an event that will make people sit up and take notice, de Garis suggests that once people start talking to their machines as the main interface, in a home robot for instance, and when these devices get upgraded, the real impacts will be felt.  In the 2020's and 2030's, he predicts that the gap will really perceptibly be noticeable, and become the dominating discussion point.
