Electronic Devices You Can Repair Yourself

Gadgets

As our daily lives rely more and more on electronic devices, it has become imperative for people who own them to know how to fix them when needed. Rather than simply throwing away the item or paying hundreds of dollars to have it repaired, most electronics are now made so that they can be fixed by their owners.

If you've got any of the following electronic devices, the good news is that you can repair them yourself and save plenty of time and money.

Digital Cameras

Although most people use their smartphones today to take pictures, plenty of people still have digital cameras they use on a frequent basis. Whether the camera won't turn on, has a blank screen, or a lens cover that won't open, chances are you'll be able to fix it on your own. In many cases, these problems are simply battery issues that can be quickly remedied without paying large repair fees.

Cell Phones

If there is one thing most cell phone owners fear, it's getting a cracked screen. However, rather than toss the phone aside or pay hundreds of dollars for a new one, you may be able to fix that cracked screen yourself. If the scratch is not too deep or extensive, using a scratch remover cream may solve the problem. This should help smooth the glass while keeping plenty of clarity, making the phone appear good as new.

Professional Electronic Repair

For many people who own iPods, they automatically assume they will need professional electronic repair if they experience any problems. Some companies, like Contec Direct, realize that many electronic devices can be too complicated to repair yourself. However, while this type of repair may be needed for such repairs as a full system restoration, there are other iPod repairs that can be done by the owner. But for the most part, it’s best to leave this task to experienced individuals.

E-Readers

As e-books become more popular with people everywhere, eReaders have also become much more numerous. However, just like all other electronic devices, they too experience their share of issues. One of the most common involves a letter missing on the keyboard, which while sounding complex can actually be easily fixed by its owner. If it's an onscreen keyboard, it can be reinstalled online, saving it a trip to the repair shop.

While repairing any electronic device can sound overwhelming at first, the good news is that by doing some research and taking the initiative, these and many others can be easily fixed.

How Mirrorless Cameras are Revolutionizing the Photography Industry

Technology

The photography industry is no stranger to evolution and technological advancements. One of the latest advances that is going to take the industry by storm is the invention of the mirrorless cameras.

While smartphones have most definitely had an impact on both the watch industry and the photography industry, there are simply things that these all-in-one devices cannot do. This is the primary reason why digital cameras are still in demand, but unfortunately it takes an extremely experienced user to make sense of all of the components and all of the features.

In an era where the focus is on simplified technology, digital cameras tend to be much too complicated. This is where mirrorless cameras come into play to bring simplicity to photography. Read on and find out how these new models are going to revolutionize the industry as a whole to increase sales.

More User-Friendly for the Masses

One of the major reasons why the industry has tanked is because DSLR cameras are extremely difficult to use when you aren't necessarily a professional photographer. Since professional users and advanced enthusiasts, like those featured at Sleeklens, who are willing to take the time to learn the features aren't the majority in the marketplace, selling a user-friendly technology that are smaller and capable of taking quality pictures can breathe life into the market and generate more sales by targeting the niche that will buy the most.

Trends Show that Consumers Are Thinking Smaller

There was a time in the sector where bigger was better,

but that is not necessarily true any longer. Manufacturers in the industry do realize that imaging is a core part of peoples' lives, but the average consumer is leaning towards compact designs rather than bulky ones. Since mirrorless digital cameras are capable of being manufactured in a more compact casing, they are more easy to integrate with mobile technology. If portability, connectivity and affordability are all priorities, mirrorless cameras will begin to dominate shortly.

The Need for Less Components

Mirrorless models, which are referred to as Digital Single Lens Mirrorless (DSLM) in industry lingo, use just one single lens to take high-resolution images. While there will always be a need for Interchangeable Lens Cameras (ILC), a majority of users want to capture moments in their life without having to purchase new lenses and interchange them. The fixed lens technology adds to ease-of-use and makes cameras even more affordable without compromising a great deal of performance.

Users Can Be Even More Connected

Virtually all point-and-shoot digital cameras have advanced imaging capabilities and are integrated with Wi-Fi technologies. While Wi-Fi-connected cameras do compete with smartphones that can help you with content creation on-the-go, it is still important to look for a DSLM Wi-Fi-ready camera that has all of the features you want. For example, there are 18 different Panasonic Lumix G models that each have different features that are great for nature lovers all the way to selfie connoisseurs (and you can take a little extra off the price with Discountrue coupons for Sears).

It is important for all industries to adapt as technologies change. While photographers who take images for a living will need to multi-lens models to get professional-quality prints, the everyday user can appreciate what mirrorless will do. The result will be user-friendly, compact, affordable full-featured cameras that simply photography.

New Camera Could Be the Death of DLSR

Gadgets

Silicon Valley startup Light might have just unleashed a technology that could make DLSR photography.   Their new camera, which is actually an array of 16 optical sensors, puts a whole professional photographer's kit into the palm of your hand, and throws in Android connectivity too.

More than just another digital camera, the Light L16 camera is a new portable device made up of an array of lenses and optical zoom capabilities that puts over $6000 worth of DLSR camera technology into the palm of your hand. With 16 individual camera modules in the same camera body, the light could have a major impact on photography.

With each shot on the Light, ten of the inner optical elements fire simultaneously and are combined to form a 52-megapixel photo. There are five 35mm lenses, five 70mm lenses, and six 150mm in the device. "Our software can figure out how to set the exposures differently for the different cameras to get great low light performance," says Light CEO Dave Grannan.

The camera also offers what it calls infinite depth of field control.  With this, the software on the camera, image focus can be controlled after the image is taken much like the Lytro camera.

The Light has one big advantage over the Lytro though: Powered by Android and equipped with WiFi, the device also makes photos instantly available to be shared on social media, just like a smart phone. It can also shoot 4K video.

In the video below, Robert Scoble spoke with Grannan who demonstrated the camera and explained what makes the Light so unique.

Light is offering a $400 discount to people who reserve the camera now. It is expected to ship to the first round of buyers in the United States in late summer 2016.
