 Cortana
It was well known that Cortana would show up on desktop sooner or later and now we have a preview of how Microsoft's virtual assistant will work on your PC. Video from WinBeta show what Microsoft's virtual assistant will be like when it finally and inevitably shows up in Windows 10.

The rumors that Windows would integrate Cortana into the Windows 10 OS was confirmed when the official announcement was made. Now, a video (above) has been posted online which shows Cortana running on an unreleased build of Windows 10.

Zac Bowden at WinBeta got access to the unreleased build and put up a video preview of the Cortana integration. This is pre-release content, so this probably won’t be what the final product may look like.

It is mentioned in the accompanying report that Cortana’s user interface has not been finished in this build so expect the virtual assistant to look different when the final version hits with the consumer release of Windows 10.

Functionality appears to be at par with that of the Windows Phone version. Cortana on Windows 10 can pull up maps and location, call people through Skype, set reminders, launch applications, play or pause music, check the weather and much more.

Various reports indicate that Microsoft is testing different methods of integrating Cortana in to the desktop, including a dedicated icon on the task bar, possibly even taking up the place of the Windows Start icon.
