Designer Looks To Social Media For New Venture

We recently interviewed serial entrepreneur Derrick Frohne about his new venture into social networking, and his plans for the future.

While he may not be in the same league as Richard Branson or Elon Musk, young up-and-coming designer and entrepreneur, Derrick Frohne is busy with many ventures.  We were first introduced to Frohne when we did a piece on his award-winning eClip USB flash drive.

Now the designer, inventor and entrepreneur is busy launching Crebo.co, a new social network platform, a classified ad site and a line of all-natural health and beauty products.  We recently interviewed Frohne about his ventures via email:

We know you from your award-winning design of the Frohne eClip USB flash drive.  Why are you now working on web development and social networking? 

I founded Crebo.co because I wanted to make a social network for business and non-business usage available to everyone worldwide on computers, smartphones, and tablet. The goal was to make a versatile website that would allow people to share, post, explore, and marketplace buying all in one website. Crebo members can chat, send instant messages, post life experiences and buy things on the same website. I integrated a classified section so people can sell their products and services from the same website as they have their business and individual profiles on there. 

In regards to web development, I founded iBuildaSite to help small businesses and individuals with affordable and convenient web design, development, and hosting plans. There are many people out there, and I was one of them in the past; who needed quality web development and hosting but couldn’t afford the hefty fees involved for a basic eCommerce website and hosting. If that wasn’t the issue, the other was inconvenience.

Is there any story behind the name, "Crebo?"

Yes, as I was creating a social network at that time, I thought about the goal I wanted to reach and I saw the name Crebo in the latin dictionary. In Latin, Crebo means close and repeatedly. It was an excellent name considering Crebo is brings businesses and individuals closer to everyone by posting, sharing, exploring, and buying repeatedly.

With other popular and established social networks out there, what sets Crebo apart?  Why would someone want to switch from Facebook or Google+ to Crebo?  

Crebo is unique because it has a profile page to add a lot of content about the individual or business and has a classifieds section also for local individuals and businesses to share, post, explore, and buy from other local individuals and businesses. The music player, video player, and a personal calendar is on the profile page for convenience. Other features will be updated to the site as I integrate them in. Businesses can also make suggestions to Crebo so we can help them in their journey to success. 

How do you plan to grow the business over the next few months?  Are you going to seek additional funding? 

At the moment, Crebo is growing the number of members by word of mouth, online advertising, and emails to the media about the new social network community. Crebo has an app so people can download it for their smartphones and tablets. There are more people using their smartphones and tablets compared to computers. The app will allow Crebo to reach more users worldwide. In the year 2016, there will be more than 2.4 Billion mobile internet users and that’s why the app is needed to expand members.

Will you be using advertising to generate income from the site? 

Yes, Crebo and ClassiFye will obtain revenue by advertising on Crebo’s website and ads in the Crebo and ClassiFye App.

From the start it looks like Crebo will be friendly to businesses as well as individual users. What are some of the advantages of Crebo to the business user?

Thank you for the compliment. Crebo is business friendly and as Crebo will assist businesses with brand awareness with classified ad space where businesses can post jobs, videos, and services. Brand awareness is vital for any business and Crebo wants to help them with that. Geo-targeting is an effective way to send a message out to a specific audience based on their location. 

Crebo will allow businesses to attract new customers and maintain their current customers because of instant feedback. When a company launches a new product or service, people will see this feedback, which helps build a positive reputation. Customers can also post feedback about products and services so businesses can use the data to improve current products and services. Businesses can also use Crebo to monitor competitors. Businesses can monitor to see what consumers want and stay ahead of the competition by continuous monitoring. Crebo will also help businesses by driving more traffic to their website. Increase website traffic also helps page ranking by search engines. 

You seem to be involved in a lot of projects.  Could you explain a bit more about Gentle Bees?What products are you offering and what are their benefits? 

Gentle Bees is a brand of candles, lip balm, soap, and eye creams made of beeswax and exotic organic ingredients designed & handcrafted in Texas. I founded Gentle Bees on my birthday April 16. I’m responsible for sales and manufacturing. [My fiance,] Mecca helps with inventory management, shipping, and manufacturing.

Where did the inspiration for this company come from?

The inspiration came from my fiancee Mecca Lazaro. There were a few occasions when I noticed her lips dry and chapped. I asked her where her lip balm was and she said that it melted in her car.  I decided to find ingredients to make her some lip balm that wouldn’t melt when left in her car in this hot climate. I searched online about ingredients to make a lip balm that has a high melting point and beeswax is the best selection.

Are there any final words you would like to tell our readers?

I want everyone to know that when consumers buy from a family business, it helps pay for the mortgage, putting food on the table, helps pay the electric bill, and helps pay for college tuition. I want to thank everyone for their continuous support for my family businesses.
