Long for This World, a new 3D documentary from The Moving Picture Institute (MPI) fellows David Alvarado and Jason Sussberg, explores the science and philosophy of the life extension movement.

A thought-provoking, engaging film, Long for This World features scientists and economists who share their thoughts on human longevity and the possibility of extending life beyond what we think is possible.

The film features gerontologist Aubrey de Grey and telomerase researcher Bill Andrews and their work on life extension.

Well known to 33rd Square readers, de Grey, is a biomedical gerontologist based in Cambridge, UK and Mountain View, California, USA, who first researched the idea for, and founded, the SENS Research Foundation.

He received his BA and Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge in 1985 and 2000 respectively, with his original field being in computer science. Dr. de Grey is editor-in-chief of Rejuvenation Research, a Fellow of both the Gerontological Society of America and the American Aging Association, and sits on the editorial and scientific advisory boards of numerous journals and organizations.

Andrews is the President and CEO at Sierra Sciences, a company formed to work with telomeres to slow and possibly reverse the aging process.

Andrews was one of the principal discoverers of both the RNA and protein components of human telomerase and was awarded 2nd place as "National Inventor of the Year" in 1997 for this work. He is presently a named inventor on 35 US issued telomerase patents.

This is the story of two biologists who believe human immortality is imminent. With humor and wonder, this film peels back the layers of their science and their personal lives.
