Motorcycle Gadgets Straight from Science Fiction

 Gadgets
According to guest writer Robert Crumrine the more than 11 million motorcyclists in the US will soon be enjoying gadgets straight out of a science fiction movie.

With 11 million motorcyclists in the United States alone, according to Leather Up, it's no wonder that more and more technology exists that caters to this large demographic. For some people, it's an affordable and efficient way of getting to and from work or school. For others, riding is a way to escape. No matter what motivations you have for riding, make your rides more enjoyable by getting your hands on some of this tech that looks like it came straight out of a science fiction movie.

Eat Sleep Ride

Eat Sleep Ride is a $2.99 Android and iOS app that enhances your entire riding experience. It records your riding patterns and shares your favorite routes with friends. Its dashboard tracks a number of statistics, such as mileage, lean angle, and elevation, and even has an emergency crash detector that contacts friends and family if it detects that you've been in a wreck. It includes GPS data in the message, so they can get emergency services to you as quickly as possible.

You might not think that your bike needs new wheels or tires, but it's a good idea to know what you need when the time comes. Not all bike tires are created equally, and Bike Bandit has many varieties to let you know what's out there. The type of tire you want to pick up depends on your standard motorcycle habits. If you're using your bike for a frequent commute, heavier duty tires are a good idea.

Smart Helmet

A proper helmet is incredibly important to the motorcycle experience, and technological advances have not left them behind. Smart helmets are popping up that not only incorporate the latest safety designs, but include new tech that makes you eager to wear them. Some have cooling systems that activates on impact to reduce any swelling resulting from a wreck. Some integrate Bluetooth technology to make it easy to talk to others on your ride, and have an automatic contact feature if you wreck. Others integrate GPS with heads up displays to get you where you need to go. Helmets can also act as a pair of headphones when hooked up with a MP3 player, giving you all of the entertainment you could hope for while you journey.

Mobile Warming Apparel

While riding is wonderful all times of year, fall and winter are not the nicest when it comes to temperatures. Mobile Warming Apparel keeps you warm when the thermometer dips. Its windshark jackets include warming panels that generate up to 135 degrees of heat, keeping you nice and toasty no matter how cold it is on the ride. Don't shelf your bike for the winter if you don't have to.
