Sight - Futuristic film by Eran May-raz and Daniel Lazo

 Future Technology
Sight is a well-made short movie touching the subject of future uses of augmeneted reality displays. Created by students Eran May-raz and Daniel Lazo at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, the film explores the potentials and hazards of Google Project Glass-like technology.

The video, below, shows a Sight Systems engineer with Sight, his company's contact lense-like device, embedded in his eye (think future version Google Project Glass). He does just about everything with it, including playing games, slicing cucumbers, watching videos and picking out clothes for his evening date.

One of the more creepy apps he has on Sight is called "Wingman," which coaches him on what to say throughout his date. The most disturbing part of the movie, however, is the ending. FInding out that her date has been using "Wingman," she becomes disgusted and gets up to leave his apartment. As she walks out, he manipulates her Sight, seemingly gains control of her mind, accesses her profile and says, "Let's try this again."

Many online users noted that the film was well-made and complemented the film makers for a job well done. However, much of the online discussion, focuses on the idea of Sight. "As cool as the tech is, I can't help but be massively bothered by the idea that at some point I may have to treat the security of my own mind, that sacred space, as I would my computer...," wrote a YouTube commenter.

"Very well done. I couldn't help but think that I was getting a look into our very creepy future," wrote a commenter from Vimeo, where the video was originally posted.

"Just wait for the viruses that would develop on this nonsense - suddenly people could become 'invisible' by creating a program to edit them out of the environment with background images - or 'move' someone's finger a little bit further from the knife than it really is when slicing a cucumber," wrote a Redditor.

The technology is not that far off.  The Pentagon already has virtual reality contact lenses on order, and Apple, Microsoft and Sony have unvieled recent augmented reality glasses patents.
