Jason Silva shares five things that have him very excited.  As always, Silva's infectious enthusiasm for technology and science makes for exciting viewing.  

Trancension  Hypothesis

The Transcension Hypothesis by Singularity University advisor, John Smart offers a theory of what comes after the technological singularity, also accounting for Fermi's Paradox.

The hypothesis essentially postulates that after our technological adolescent and expansionist explorations, we turn from outer space to inner space.  Intelligence and evolution undergoes S.T.E.M. compression, the compression of Space, Time, Energy and Matter- until non biological minds live inside virtual worlds at the nano and femto scale, further compressing complexity until we create black hole-like conditions and disappear from the visible universe altogether.

Synthetic Biology 

Silva also mentions synthetic biology.  Specifically the University of Edinbugh project SynthSys - Synthetic and Systems Biology's program of bringing together aesthetics into biology, opening up the field for creativity.

The mission of the SynthSys center is to deliver world-leading research in Systems and Synthetic Biology; combining theory and informatics with molecular biology to understand and re-design biochemical systems.

 Singularity University 

Ray Kurzweil and Peter Diamandis founded Singularity University to bring about in its students an understanding of the impacts of exponential technologies.  The audacious goal of the projects at SU is to affect a billion people in ten years and the program aims to give people the tools to do so.

 TED 

A self-described TED junky, Silva poses that the popularity of TED Talks (over 100,000,000 views) give him evidence that humanity is getting smarter, not dumber.  "It is the ultimate antidote against the likes of Jersey Shore."

Boeing 787 Dreamliner 

Boeing's 787 Dreamliner awakens the aviation geek within Silva.  Silva remarks that it is the first aircraft where designers helped lead the project, focusing on the overall customer experience of flying.
