Elysium

 Movies
In next year's Elysium, Neill Blomkamp, the creator of District 9 returns to his familiar theme of class divisions. The film explores how an Earth-locked character can get to the pristine man-made space station built by the Armadyne Corporation, Elysium.
I n the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy "Coordinators," people who can afford bio-genetic engineering, who live on Elysium, a pristine man-made space station built by the Armadyne Corporation; and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth.

Secretary Rhodes, played by Jodie Foster, a hard government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky ex-con Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

With Elysium coming on the heels of District 9, writer/director Neill Blomkamp is returning to his key theme of portraying class divisions on film. As a South African, this an issue he is intensely aware of.  Legendary Blade Runner concept designer, Syd Mead has also worked on the film.

iMDB has recently posted that the film's name has changed to Baja Dunes, but this remains to be confirmed.
