DARPA's Maximum Mobility and Manipulation (M3) program seeks to create and demonstrate significant scientific and engineering advances in robot mobility and manipulation capabilities.
According to DARPA, the M3 program pursues four parallel tracks of research and development: tool design, improvement of production methods and processes, improvement in control of robot mobility and manipulation, and prototype demonstration.
Members of the lab presented two papers at International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA): “A Compact Two DOF Magneto-elastomeric Force Sensor for a Running Quadruped,” and “Optimally Scaled Hip-Force Planning: A Control Approach for Quadrupedal Running.”
Interesting research materials, but neither of those papers included these videos of a scarily complete robot cheetah:
